Purpose of book is to provide communications-satellite payload engineers and technical satellite-procurement personnel the knowledge they need, which until now has been gotten only through 10 to 20 years of experience.  The book also describes the end-to-end satellite-communications system.  The book facilitates cross-over work: e.g. the payload engineer will know enough to analyze the effect of a specification non-compliance on end-to-end system performance, and the system developer will understand the time-varying payload performance.

 

Intended audience is primarily working engineers; secondarily, students of systems engineering, RF and microwave, and modeling and simulation, who could use selected parts of the book.
